The Femmes Fatales are a team of female thieves who all possess metahuman powers. The group has committed a string of successful high-profile roberies over the last few years that has placed them on the DEO's Most-Wanted List. On the few occasions that members of the team have been captured, the rest of the group have been quick to free their imprisoned sisters.

The first known encounter between the Femmes and a super-hero team happened in Phoenix when the then newly-formed Enforcers of Justice tried to stop the ladies from robbing a S.T.A.R. Labs. They would face a different team of Enforcers in Pacific City some time later. In both encounters the ladies escaped capture. At the time the Femmes Fatales had four members:

• Elasta: the leader of the team. Elasta can stretch and mold her body, much like Plastic Man of the JLA.
• Sparx: the team's technical expert. Sparx can control electricity, and electrical devices and she can emit bolts of electricity and fly.
• Ms. Steele: is the muscle of the group. Ms. Steele is nigh-indestructible and is strong enough to lift hundreds of tons.
• Charm: a beautiful woman, Charm has the power to cause people fall in love with her and she can then control them. She also has the power to control the emotions of hate and jealousy in a target.

More recently the team's roster has doubled with the addition of four new members. This expanded group has faced Justice Inc and the new Enforcers of Justice. The new members of the Femmes Fatales are:

• Sirocco and Zephyr (The Storm Riders): twin Japanes women with superspeed. The Storm Riders were originally sent to the US by Kei Manga Corps to serve as opponents for Nemesis but they eventually left Kei's employ and were invited to join the Femmes Fatales. The twins can run at many times the speed of sound and, when they join hands, they can generate powerful tornadoes and whirlwinds or generate immense bolts of lightning. The Storm Riders maintain secret identities as a Japanese pop music duo named the Samurai Sisters.
• Equinox: a powerful elementalist. Equinox can control the four mythic elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. She has also been seen to use her water powers to create ice and snow.
• Ventura: the mysterious tactician. Virtually nothing is known about Ventura, including how long she has been with the Femmes Fatales. She operates in secret, never out in the open with the other team members. Ventura is a powerful psionic and uses her mental powers to track and coordinate the rest of the team from a safe distance. No matter what happens to the other team members they know they can count on Ventura to bail them out of trouble if things go wrong.

The Femmes Fatales were recently infiltrated by the hero Arachnia in her Skorpia identity. Arachnia was able to learn a great deal about the Femmes Fatales before her deception was uncovered. Despite Arachnia's efforts the Femmes Fatales escaped before they could be taken into custody and they remain at large.
