First Federation
An aloof, advanced society, the First Federation made contact with Starfleet in the mid-23rd century. In the time since, relations have been cordial. The First Federation trades with most other interstellar powers, but mainly curiosities, artwork, and consumer goods. Their ships and infrastructure are more powerful than those of most of the rest of the Alpha Quadrant, and the other societies have nothing of technical value with which to barter.
Government
The First Federation is controlled by the Fesarian species, though there are other member species in the alliance. Beyond this, very little is known about the nature of the First Federation. The borders of First Federation space are protected by a series of sophisticated warning buoys capable of incapacitating most starships.
Like Starfleet, the First Federation maintains a sort of non-interference policy. They do not allow their technology to benefit others, on the rationale that it could deviate the development of alien civilizations. This policy also extends to making war against or on behalf of "lesser" societies. Since first making contact with the United Federation of Planets, the First Federation has maintained diplomatic and trade relations with its neighbors. Trade between the First Federation and various Alpha Quadrant species continues in the 24th century, with the beverage tranya being a major export.
Fesarians
The Linnik, also known as Fesarians, are a neotenous humanoid species who resemble humans except that they remain small and childlike even in their adult form.
